A COMPARISON OF THE SEMANTICS OF ENGLISH AND TURKISH FAMILY MEMBERS

Abstract:
This paper attempts to compare and contrast English-Turkish nouns specifically the words for family members using semantic features. The similarities and differences of the group of words used for family members in both languages and express the possible errors that Turkish speakers might face while learning English words are illustrated. This will help Turkish speakers to learn the different meanings of these words and use the language more efficiently when taught in the classroom.
